Speaking of pointless remakes, news of the impending Evil Dead revamp has seen me in a sanguine mood. I have been gradually warming up to it though, what with Sir Bruce of Campbell’s glowing reports (the word “awesome” has been thrown about with wild abandon), and now the first trailer has arrived courtesy of IGN. And it’s a doozy. Those of a sensitive disposition may wish to go away and grow a pair.

So. Director Fede Alvarez seems to have brought the scary, and that music really gets the blood pumping too. There are plenty of nods to Sam Raimi’s no-budget masterpiece, but it remains to be seen whether this can buck the trend and stand on its own two bloody stumps. What do you guys think?
