5-Word 365 #139 – First Kid

In Shutter Island, Ben Kingsley’s character, Dr Cawley, describes a migraine as like “someone cutting your skull open, dumping in a load of razor blades and shaking it really hard”. Poetic, yet accurate. Can someone bring me some ice cream? Mint choc chip, thanks.

First Kid

Don’t watch with a migraine

Secret Service Agent Simms is assigned to protect the 13-year-old son of the US President. The kid is a brat who pissed off his previous Agent, but he and Simms eventually bond. All is fine until someone tries to kidnap the boy.

If you were 13 in 1996 you might have enjoyed this, but it has not aged well. The kids around today that this flick would be aimed at weren’t even born when it was released. They’d probably just spend most of the time laughing at the crappy computers. Besides that, it’s mildly entertaining, but nothing more than a fairly standard mid-nineties Disney comedy.

By the way, whatever happened to Sinbad?

Fond memories of watching this at a friends house when I was a kid. Im sure all nostalgia would be destroyed by seeing it again now.

Hope you feel better. I don’t think watching that movie helped a lot with the migraine, though.
