Trailer Of The Week – Strippers Vs Werewolves

If you have ever asked yourself what would happen if Freddy Krueger got into a fight with a bunch of strippers played by girls from British soaps (in Croydon), here is the answer, via YouTube*.

The official synopsis goes something like this:

When werewolf chief Jack Ferris is accidentally killed in a strip club, the girls who work there have until the next full moon before his bloodthirsty wolfpack seek murderous retribution.

Movie Marketing Rule 1: Know your audience

I can’t help thinking that somebody saw Zombie Strippers and decided that it needed more hair and an estate agent or two. Yes, apparently one of the werewolves is also in real estate. Even supernatural monsters need to pay the bills.

You might see Robert Englund’s presence here as a guy getting on a bit and taking any job he can get. I prefer the more philanthropic standpoint, which is that he using his genre fame to give back to the independent horror filmmaking community, though it must have been a bit weird for the residents of Croydon to see ol’ Razor-fingers wandering the streets of an afternoon…

…at the corner of Albert Square and Elm Street.

Strippers Vs Werewolves is getting a limited cinema release in the UK this Friday, April 27th (for anyone who doesn’t fancy Marvel Avengers Assemble) and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray from May 7th. Bloody Disgusting reports that the movie has a US distributor, but there’s no sign of a release date yet.

*I would have embedded the video here, but you have to pay extra for that. I’m an Irishman living in Scotland; cheap is my middle name.

UPDATE – Okay, it seems I can embed after all. Thanks to Bubbawheat for the how-to.
